See the safety guidelines we require our drivers to follow when on the worksite.

Driving on a worksite compromises a large part of what Tucker Paving drivers do. Tucker Paving has been operating in Central Florida and beyond in the construction industry for over 30 years, offering site clearing, demo, excavation and grading, underground utilities, concrete, and asphalt paving; we have drivers behind the wheels of dump trucks, excavators, loaders, graders, bulldozers, compactors, and more on worksites every day. The need to maintain safety with so many moving pieces of heavy equipment on a worksite is of the utmost importance! We have crafted safety guidelines that we instruct our drivers to follow.

Worksite Safety Guidelines for Drivers

These are the safety guidelines we give our drivers to follow when behind the wheel on a worksite:

  1. As soon as your vehicle enters the site, brake and slow the vehicle down.  Drivers should be going a maximum speed of 10 mph on a worksite in general and a maximum of 5 mph when driving near workers.
  2. Drivers need to scan the site for potential problems such as people, other moving equipment, open manholes, trenches, overhead powerlines, and other hazards. Humans are no match for trucks and other machinery; it has to be the driver’s first priority to ensure the safety of everyone on the worksite.
  3. Drivers must wear their PPE when they get out of their trucks or machines, including hard hats, vests, and safety glasses.
  4. Drivers should wear a face mask or bandana to cover their faces if there is excess dust to reduce exposure to silica dust.
  5. If it is necessary to back up a ramp to dump and there are no wind rows of dirt on the edges to prevent rollover, drivers must notify their supervisor so it can be corrected.
  6. Drivers must always be looking around for people and potential problems like their heads are on a swivel.
