Tucker Paving has a robust substance abuse policy, and we’re committed to having a drug-free workplace.
Drug and alcohol abuse are an unfortunate part of our society, but there is no room on a construction site for intoxication or impairment due to drugs or alcohol. Just like driving a vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol is dangerous, substance abuse on a construction site significantly impair a worker’s physical and mental abilities; this leads to poor judgment, slower reaction times, poor coordination, and impaired vision. The bottom line is that impairment increases the risk of accidents, injuries, and fatalities for everyone on a construction site. Tucker Paving utilizes a robust Drug-Free Workplace Program, and we consider compliance with its Drug-Free Workplace Program to be a significant job requirement for all employees. See what conditions we hold our employees to.
Tucker Paving’s Drug-Free Workplace
At Tucker Paving, it’s a condition of employment for team members to refrain from reporting to work or working with the presence of drugs or alcohol in their systems. We expect all team members to be able to perform all necessary job functions in a safe and alert manner, and both drugs and alcohol will interfere with staying alert and safe.
Key points of our substance abuse policy include:
- Any violation of any section of the Drug-Free Workplace Program is taken seriously and is considered misconduct connected with work.
- An employee who violates this Program demonstrates a willful and wanton disregard of the Company’s interests, and such a violation will be considered a deliberate violation and disregard of the standards of behavior which the Company has a right to expect of its employees.
- Violation of the terms of our Drug-Free Workplace Program will result in discipline, up to and including termination of employment.
- An employee injured in the course and scope of employment who refuses to submit to a test for drugs or alcohol, or who is tested and has a positive confirmation of drug or alcohol use, forfeits his eligibility for medical and indemnity benefits under the Workers’ Compensation Act.
As part of our Drug-Free Workplace Program, Tucker Paving also utilizes:
- Pre-employment drug screening.
- Post-accident drug screening with an accident involving medical treatment.
- Post-incident drug screening for an incident with significant property damage.
- Reasonable Suspicion Screening.
- Random Screening.
- We reserve the right to require drug screening for anyone working under its authority.
- Tucker Paving encourages team members to seek treatment before a violation occurs.
- We will maintain a Good Faith Effort to maintain a Drug Free workplace.
