Tucker Paving has 30 years of experience in the paving industry and 50 years serving the residents of Central Florida.  It’s a climate that is tough on materials, even despite the lack of sustained freezing temperatures. Over the years, we’ve used a variety of materials and have seen those that last. If you’re looking for durability and longevity, these are the top materials to use.

Five Materials You Can Rely On

These are the top five materials that Tucker Paving has seen go the distance:

  1. Steel and Iron. Metal options like iron and steel offer strong support and a lot of versatility. It can be used with other materials—such as rebar encased in concrete—or by itself for a variety of uses. It can be shaped and prefabricated to precise specifications, welded, riveted, or bolted, and it is completely recyclable. It is strong and can be used in most elements.
  2. Concrete. Concrete is the most-used material in the world. Concrete is also strong and versatile, especially when combined with other materials, like metal. It can be poured into forms onsite or pre-cast into molds and transported. It is widely used in slabs, foundations, walls, floors, and more. It is also highly recyclable.
  3. Brick. Made from a variety of materials—including concrete—in a form, brick offers a uniform product that is strong and can withstand a variety of conditions.
  4. Asphalt. Asphalt is made of bitumen and aggregates for a variety of applications from roads to roofs. It is highly recyclable, and its longevity value for pavement comes from being renewable through the milling process.
  5. Wood. While wood itself is subject to degradation when not properly dried or protected, it does offer a lot of bang for your building dollar once it is properly treated and protected. It’s a renewable resource that provides strength without the weight of metal or concrete.
