Members of the management, support staff, and construction crews at Tucker Paving, Inc., like to get out into the community and help other organizations and institutions with their programs and special projects.

A few weeks back, Tucker Paving was a sponsor for the Southeastern Guide Dogs Walk-a-Thon fundraiser around Lake Hollingsworth in Lakeland. As part of the sponsorship, Team Tucker members manned a water station for the walkers, who were out to help a group that trains and provides guide dogs for the blind (www.guidedogs.org).

Before that, we provided support for the Winter Haven Police Department’s Third Annual 5K Run and 1-Mile Walk for Special Olympics Florida.

More recently, Tucker Paving was among the sponsors for Clays for Courts at the Tenoroc Shooting Center, located between Auburndale and Lakeland. The Polk State College Foundation event, presented by Regal Lakeland Clays for Courts in partnership with The A.D. Morgan Corporation, was a benefit for the basketball and volleyball teams at the college.

Team Tucker was represented in the 50-target sporting clays shoot by Amanda Dawley, Mike Felix, and Josh Smith, along with colleague Wayne Agamie of Trench Plate Rental.

Some people call all of this extracurricular community activity “giving back” and “good corporate citizenship,” and that’s OK. We simply call it doing the right thing and having some fun in the process. (Getting out of the office and out of the office routine every once in a while is nice, too.)
