Only Texas and California saw higher increases, and Florida had the greatest single increase in construction employment—4,100 jobs—between July and August of 2019.

Analysts maintain the shortage is actually to blame in part for the forecasted slowdown of construction growth for 2020; construction companies can’t find enough employees to do the work. Those employees with a background in construction will have many options available to them in terms of employers and advancement in 2020.
4. Florida’s construction projects align with the biggest niche markets. Those niche markets in the construction industry that are still growing—such as “live-work-play” mixed-use developments—are popular in Florida due to baby boomers looking to move to a tropical climate.
